We are offering an exciting opportunity for a Legal Assistant in the Royal Oak area.

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Probate Legal Assistant to provide essential administrative and paralegal support to our probate attorneys. The ideal candidate will be a proactive and resourceful individual with a strong understanding of probate procedures and excellent communication and organizational skills. This role requires the ability to manage a high volume of tasks, maintain confidentiality, and work effectively both independently and as part of a team.

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and file probate court documents, including petitions, orders, notices, inventories, accountings, and other related filings, ensuring accuracy and adherence to court rules and deadlines.
  • Maintain and organize probate case files, both physical and electronic, ensuring all documents are properly indexed and readily accessible.
  • Communicate effectively with clients, beneficiaries, personal representatives, court personnel, and other relevant parties, providing updates and answering inquiries.
  • Schedule and coordinate meetings, hearings, and depositions.
  • Manage attorney calendars and deadlines related to probate matters.
  • Assist with the preparation of estate tax returns and related documents.
  • Conduct legal research related to probate law and procedures as needed.
  • Review and summarize legal documents.
  • Process incoming and outgoing mail and manage correspondence.
  • Handle billing and invoicing related to probate cases.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality of client information and firm matters.
  • Perform other administrative and clerical duties as assigned.

• Possession of a Bachelor's Degree in Law or a related field.

• Proven experience as a Legal Assistant, Paralegal, or a similar role within a legal environment.

• Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of Estate Planning.

• Proficiency in handling Probate and Probate Law related matters.

• Exceptional skills in conducting legal research and drafting legal documents.

• Strong ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.

• Excellent oral and written communication skills.

• Proficiency in using legal software and Microsoft Office Suite.

• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

• Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.

• High level of professionalism and ethical standards.

• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
