Job Summary

Michael Walker Construction is seeking an experienced and motivated Traveling Construction Superintendent to oversee construction projects across various locations. Based out of our Dallas, TX office, this role requires a hands-on leader with a strong background in construction management, exceptional organizational skills, and the ability to travel as needed to ensure project success. The ideal candidate will ensure projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards while maintaining a safe and efficient work environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee all phases of construction projects, from planning and scheduling to execution and completion, across multiple job sites.
  • Coordinate and supervise subcontractors, vendors, and on-site crews to ensure adherence to project specifications, timelines, and safety regulations.
  • Review project plans and specifications to ensure accurate implementation and compliance with design requirements.
  • Conduct regular site inspections to ensure quality control, safety standards, and compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Resolve on-site issues, including delays, conflicts, or unforeseen challenges, with a solutions-oriented approach.
  • Maintain clear and consistent communication with project stakeholders, including clients, architects, engineers, and team members.
  • Prepare and submit daily/weekly progress reports and documentation as required.
  • Ensure proper use, maintenance, and storage of equipment and materials on-site.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5+ years of experience as a Construction Superintendent or similar role in the construction industry.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines and budgets.
  • Willingness and ability to travel extensively to various job sites (valid driver’s license required).
  • Strong knowledge of construction processes, methods, and materials, with expertise in reading blueprints and technical drawings.
  • Excellent leadership and team management skills, with a focus on fostering a collaborative and productive work environment.
  • Proficiency in construction management software (e.g., Procore, PlanGrid, or similar) and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • OSHA certification or equivalent safety training preferred.
  • Exceptional problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing project needs.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions and navigate active construction sites.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. and stand or walk for extended periods.
