The Health and Civil Sector at Leidos has an opening for a Research Engineer within the Warfighter Performance Department at the Naval Health Research Center in San Diego, CA. The Research Engineer will collaborate with both intramural and extramural partners. This role involves conducting research, managing and analyzing large datasets, and providing insights on data interpretation. The position requires working independently on complex projects and supporting other technical staff. Current research areas include physical and physiological performance, with potential expansion into psychological and nutritional aspects. Primary Responsibilities Conduct data collection on human subjects in lab and field settings, adhering to research protections regulations. Operate and maintain testing equipment, including inertial measurement units (IMU), motion capture, and force/strain transducers. Create and manage databases with proper coding and commenting. Develop interfaces for non-technical staff to interact with data collection technologies. Enhance skills in literature review and scientific writing. Perform additional duties as required for research projects. Ensure compliance with Leidos and government requirements. Respond effectively to urgent inquiries and requests. Work overnight, on weekends, and holidays as needed. Travel domestically and internationally as necessary. Model Leidos Values and adhere to the Code of Ethics. Basic Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree in engineering, computer science, or related field from an accredited institution. Completed coursework in calculus, physics, physiology or human biology, statics, and dynamics. Ability to manage and analyze large, diverse datasets without MS Office. Experience programming in Python, MATLAB, or similar. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to obtain and maintain a SECRET security clearance. Flexibility to respond to changing demands and prioritize tasks independently. Willingness to travel up to 25% domestically and internationally. Availability to work non-regular hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays. US Citizenship required. Preferred Qualifications Active SECRET security clearance.
