BASIC FUNCTION: Under the direction of an assigned supervisor, perform various technical duties and assist prospective and current classified and certificated personnel; process requisitions to complete employment, termination and payroll processes; input employee information into an assigned database; maintain and update a variety of reports and documents; oversee and assist with the organization of the certificated and classified professional growth programs; process hiring activities for classified, certificated employees and unclassified employees; audit and adjust longevity, step and shift differential increases as required; provide assistance with employee testing; oversee the processing of substitutes. DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS: The Human Resources Technician is the entry-level classification in this series. Incumbents perform a variety of technical duties and provide assistance to prospective and current employees. The Lead Human Resources Technician is the lead level classification. Incumbents participate in the day-to-day Human Resources Technician responsibilities and are responsible for training, assisting and providing work direction. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Any combination equivalent to: graduation from high school supplemented by college-level coursework in business administration, secretarial science, or a related field and three years of increasingly responsible secretarial or personnel-related experience.
