Job Description
A leading energy infrastructure organization is seeking an experienced planning professional to lead the planning and scheduling efforts for a portfolio of major pipeline and facility projects. The Director of Planning will be responsible for execution planning, progress reporting, earned value management, and overall schedule integrity throughout the lifecycle of capital projects. This position will report to the Vice President of Planning & Scheduling.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related discipline.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in planning, scheduling, and project controls within large-scale energy infrastructure projects, preferably in the natural gas pipeline sector.
- Advanced proficiency with Primavera P6 and TILOS.
- Deep understanding of pipeline construction methodologies, sequencing, and critical path management.
- Strong skills in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Visio; Power BI experience preferred.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with strong analytical and critical thinking capabilities.
- Proven ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic, fast-paced environment while maintaining high attention to detail.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead planning and scheduling activities for pipeline and related facility projects from initiation through execution, ensuring alignment with objectives, timelines, and budgets.
- Develop and implement scheduling best practices using industry-standard tools (e.g., Primavera P6, TILOS).
- Collaborate with executive leadership and project teams to define performance targets and develop key performance indicators across all major work scopes.
- Design and maintain robust earned value management processes and procedures, including comprehensive progress measurement systems.
- Provide guidance and oversight to contractor planning teams, ensuring accuracy and consistency in progress reporting.
- Conduct detailed schedule analysis, including forecasting, critical path evaluation, and risk assessment.
- Support executive-level decision-making through clear communication of schedule status, trends, and mitigation strategies.
- Lead, mentor, and support a team of internal planners and schedulers to ensure consistent delivery of high-quality planning services.
- Develop and implement Power BI dashboards and other analytical tools for enhanced project insight.
- Interface regularly with key stakeholders, providing updates and schedule presentations to senior leadership.
- Collaborate closely with the cost management team to align cost and schedule data for earned value reporting.
- Drive continuous improvement in planning processes, tools, and reporting methodologies.
- Perform additional duties as required to support project and organizational success.
