JOB TITLE: Career Development Counselor Intern
DEPARTMENT/PROGRAM: Hope on the Horizon
SUPERVISOR: Outreach & Community Engagement Specialist
Interns Functions include:
• Assisting the Career Development Counselor with implementation, and overseeing of the workforce development programs tailored to youth, including career counseling, skill-building workshops, and job placement services.
• Assist youth to identifying career goals, create individualized career development plans, and provide guidance to help them navigate education, internships, and employment pathways.
• Assist with tracking performance metrics to measure program success and participant progress, ensuring youth are meeting milestones.
• Work with Case Managers to ensure youth participants receive holistic support, addressing any barriers to employment such as housing, transportation, or mental health needs.
• Collaborate with the Activities Coordinator to integrate workforce activities with engaging youth programs, including workshops, career fairs, and team-building exercises.
• Assist in building relationships with local employers, educational institutions, and community organizations to expand job and internship opportunities for youth participants.
• Represent Hope on the Horizon at community events, job fairs, and meetings to increase program visibility and forge new partnerships.
• Maintain compliance with program regulations, funding requirements, and Hope on the Horizon/Villa of Hope policies.
• Provide insights into program successes, participant needs, and impact stories.
